Meet Ballet Papalotl
Each of our performances represents hundreds of hours of practice and dedication. We work to master the technique of authentic Mexican folkloric dance while communicating the rich culture and tradition that each dance symbolizes. We'd like to introduce you to the director, dancers, and dedicated families that makes Ballet Papalotl what it is.
Founder and Artistic Director
Dr Kenya Marquez comes from a family of musicians and dancers. In addition to a degree in Psychology, she studied dance at the Instituto Nacional de Bellas Artes in Mexico City and mexican and world folkloric dance in Paris.
Kenya applies her education in dance and psychology and her wealth of historical and cultural knowledge to her instruction. Through dance, children learn about nutrition, fitness, and emotional well being while gaining confidence and a strong cultural identity. These values are instilled in the dancer through practice and then shared with the community through performance.
